Eiffel Tower ☰ Seurat ☴ Canvas Add a Float Frame:Espresso He would become skeptical ofEiffel Tower (1889) by Georges Seurat is one of about seventy oil studies, or "croquetons" (little sketches), he made on small wood panels. The panels were easily transported and ideal for outdoor painting. Here his subject is the tower built by Gustave Eiffel in 1889 for the Universal Exposition in Paris, prior to its completion. The top, still missing its distinctive crowning platform, appears to dissolve into the sky.
