In 1944 he came back to the UK but ended up in Normandy within three weeks of the invasion

I took advantage of the water in this image to yield some vertical reflections that add a balance to the painting and of course helps in the illusion of making it look like water

Jubilee Class- Thunderer WWI So many very young boysThe inspiration for this painting came from a desire to catch the smell and noise of an engine with its train behind it. I could hear the rattle and echoy screeches as it passed through the brick lined cutting pulling out of Euston station London. The rendition of smoke and steam fascinates me especially when it comes to painting it. I tried to catch the effect of the sun shinning through the smoke casting the lovely shadow rays in the background. The
